Whether you're new to Aurora Boheme - or a seasoned customer, I am so excited that you are here! My name is Savannah, not Aurora - as some may assume! Which, Fair enough - the business name IS Aurora Boheme.
I am a 31 year old artist dwelling in the South(ish) eastern part of Ohio. We're in Lancaster, haha - but I still say Columbus, ALL the time. I went to High School in Athens, Ohio - then lived in the Columbus area for 10+ years, lived in British Columbia Canada for 6 months with my hubs and kiddos in 2021, and decided Lancaster was our home when we moved back in 2022!
My husband, Zachary, and I have been married 15 years this year! Together we have 7 kids. A lot of you may be here from hearing about and watching our journey with our son, Wolfie. What's interesting, is I could write out an entire "purpose" for why I do what I do, and a year ago that paragraph would be a lot different than what it is now.
I started this business in 2021 after a decade of working on my wedding photography career. I LOVED photography, and thankfully a lot of its components I pulled into Aurora Boheme. However - when we were cancelling a ton of events due to 2020/2021 rules, I became so antsy - I desperately needed to do SOMETHING!
I found clay through Pinterest boards, and decided to teach myself everything I could. I really hope you've seen the first collection - hahahaha. We've come a long way.
When we moved to Canada in 2021, Aurora Boheme became the primary focus of my creativity. Then- coming back, I realized that this was truly something I could do to satisfy my creative itch, feed my family, and have a community surrounding me that I ALIGNED with!
Fast forward years later, Markets became a major part of the Aurora Boheme journey. So many markets, so many new friends, and the excitement of popping up and seeing real life interactions with my art! Talk about getting hooked fast!
In 2024, we found out I was pregnant with our sixth baby boy. Shortly into my pregnancy, we were told he had some 'quirks' as you could call it. Basically, fear started living in our hearts as we got closer to his due date - and every appointment we heard bad news.
March of 2025 I was hospitalized due to complications with Wolfie, and he was then born April 10th, 2025 - 7 weeks premature. During my time at Riverside - I was alone, Zachary had our other boys - and I was left to sit and worry all day. Clay became my escape. The nurses helped sneak my clay tools, a table, everything I needed - into my hospital room. And clay truly became my way to focus on what I COULD control, in a situation where I had truly no control over anything.
After Wolfie's arrival, the amount of support we received from customers, market friends, and family - was astounding. There is something magical about the small business market community.
I truly believe that there are people who were brought into my life, and into my WORK life - that would not be here had it not been for Wolfie.
So now, I do everything I do, for him. For all of my kids. - But especially for Wolfie. I promised him I will always take care of his siblings - and through my art and the gift of using my hands to create GOOD - I will do that.
To close this long About Me, I want to say this year marks FIVE YEARS of Aurora Boheme!!! The fifth birthday of Aurora Boheme is the beginning of March. I am so thankful to still have growth, excitement, prosperity in this business & creative journey five years later. It's truly a blessing.
